Bike Ride

Monday I decided to go on a 10 mile bike ride.  I was coming to a busy intersection around 4 miles into my ride and decided to use the gas station driveway to get on the sidewalk, to use the crosswalk, since the bike lane stops and I didn't want to be in the middle of traffic.  As I was turning into the driveway I noticed that I was coming into it at a bad angle.  Chris would later discover that the road is sunk in; not a good driveway.  Everything happened in seconds, but it seems like my front tire went parallel to the driveway whipping my back tire in the same direction throwing me and the bike up onto the driveway.  I landed on my right arm and head.  It felt like I was in slow motion, but at the same time, not.  I then realized that I was still alive and  if I wanted to keep it that way I should quickly get out of the busy driveway before I was a pancake.
Then a man, David, who was wearing a Sesame Street shirt, that was driving behind  me, who saw the whole thing, pulled over to help.  He is a x-ray technician, so he kicked into first aid mode.  After we sat there a bit he said he needed to get off the street and he wanted me to sit in the car.  As I gave him the I'm not getting into your car look, he said he would turn off the car and give me the keys.  He ran in the Holiday and bought me a water and wipes to clean my road burn (so thankful for cement instead of blacktop).  After Chris and Steven, a friend (Steven came to get the bike), got there, they decided I needed to go to urgent care.  As Chris was pulling his car over by where we were, so I didn't have to walk, I went white and almost passed out.  Thankfully David kicked into action.
Urgent Care told me no breaks and that's about it.  I have to say that Steven got us a sandwich while he waited for us to be done.  It was the best sandwich ever!  I have proof of the sandwich as I have a stain on my sling.  Thanks to Shannon as well as she watched the girls and has been my hair stylist since the accident.
On Thursday I decided to go to a specialist who discovered an ac tear (separated shoulder), a radial head fracture (elbow), a possible scaphoid fracture, and a pinkie out of joint.  I have another appointment at the end of the month to see if surgery on the hand is necessary.

The dent on my helmet is hard to see on the black, but there is a dent on the black and grey.  Also the foam is cracked.

The crack on the inside of the helmet.

I thought that Saturday was a good day to take a picture since my friend, Shannon, did my hair for me.

I should have had Chris take a picture sooner as my arm looked much worse then this.  My road burn is healing well (also have scabs on my arm and wrist) as well as my bruises.

This is a heat molding cast.  Look at those fat fingers.

Always wear your helmet!  I'm thankful for mine!

Tennis Practice

Yesterday we had a tennis lesson from Mr. Jim.  I'm impressed how well the girls did.  The hour flew buy.  Thank you Mr. Jim!

Forgiveness

Chris has been working on the church's Youtube page and has put several of his sermons on, so I thought I would put this one on my blog about forgiveness.

Fence

I know this is super exciting to all of you, so I decided to post the pictures of our new fence on the west side of our house that Chris put up this spring.  He did it himself and did a wonderful job.  Good practice for when we put a fence on the east side, some day.

Visit

My parents, brothers, niece and nephew came for a visit for eight days.  The cousins had a blast!

The girls (Madi, Alice, and Emma) had fun playing dress-up.  Sam even joined in just long enough for pictures.

Alice and Madi reading and writing letters.

Emma hanging with cousin Sam.

Sam hanging onto Madi.

We got to celebrate Rusty's birthday.  He was excited.

Uncle Chris and Sam bonding.

The camera man (my brother Darryl).

We watched a lot of Olympics.

Everyone at the Farmer's Market.

Girls posing at The Gateway (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gateway_District).

After we went to The Gateway we headed to the new City Creek Center.  It was beautiful.  The girls had a great time playing in the water....

This fountain went from nothing...

to some...

to soaking.

This was my favorite fountain.

Girls wanted to include Uncle Darryl in the wetness.

One of the days we all went miniature golfing.

The girls completed a reading program at our library.  After they received their goodies, they checked out books and read most of the afternoon.  Sam also enjoyed the library.

Our last day together we headed to the pool...
