Bowling
While my parents were here we were able to go bowling. Last year Chris and I took the girls bowling costing us $24 to bowl one game. This year I signed the girls up for 2 free games of bowling everyday for the summer. Then for $24 for up to 4 adults two games of bowling everyday for the summer! The only bummer is it doesn't include shoe rentals. Emma is borrowing Uncle Rusty's shoes and I found a pair for me at a second hand store, so that helps.
We went once while my parents were here and had a great time! I am hoping to take the girls next week.

Trip To The Zoo
While my parents were here, we, of course, went to the zoo. It was a beautiful sunny day...
I am thinking Madi thought she was going to be eaten by this scary statue. I hope when I get to heaven there will be a dinosaur slideshow so I can see what they really looked like.
Zuri is getting so big! We love Zuri. She will be 2 years old this August.

These baby lemurs were adorable to watch.

This falcon got hurt in the wild.

Tracey Aviary
While my parents were visiting, we went to the Tracey Aviary. It was the first time for us all. Although there was construction we still had a good time...
We went to a show and Madi reluctantlly agreed to volunteer to feed a bird...
Both girls got to put weights on top of a chicken's egg. The weights were around 50 pounds but it didn't break. Then they sat a young boy plus the weights adding around 60 pounds. Finally they had Emma sit on it, breaking it. The chicken egg can hold up to 75 pounds, if I am remembering correctly (with nest protection).

Madi nervous of what bird is coming. |

Sugar
Grandma, Emma, Madi and I made spring sugar cookies. Sugar cookies are a lot of work, but we had fun together and they sure are yummy! Speaking of sweets, we also went to the Sweets Candy Factory as well. We love sugar!

Awards
Emma was awarded the National Fitness Award. She had to complete many different exercises to accomplish this. They only do this in the older grades. She made honor roll all year as well, but this year they didn't hand out awards for that. Emma also completed her Coyote Pride Award. She completed 13 out of 15 goals (needed 12). Some of them were completing 90% or higher on at least 20 spelling tests, completing all 5 book reports, create a survey and show the results on a graph, and memorize multiplication facts through 12's. Emma works hard in school and does a great job!
Madi got straight 4's (A's) in every area on her report card all year long! She loves to learn and it shows. She also got her Coyote Pride Award. It looks like she completed 16 out of 17 (needed 14) of her goals. One of both of there goals was to participate in a P.T.A. contest that we chose not to do. Anyways, some of the goals she accomplished was reciting 4 levels of addition and subtraction facts under a certain amount of time each, read 3,000 minutes (she read a recorded amount of 7,962 minutes), complete a rock collection, research and write a report, read 200 2nd grade sight words in less then 3 minutes, and show 90% or above in addition using regrouping.
The most exciting thing for their ceremony was having family there to watch. Grandpa, Grandma, and Uncle Rusty were able to attend. Rusty waved at them a thousand times. They loved it. We have four pictures of the girls waving.
